Fixing and caring for his fursuit

Tail comes with an adjustable belt to position it in the best possible way. Depending on its size and shape, it's up to you to find its best place (the photos are for information only)

The head slips on like a motorcycle helmet. You tilt the Fursuit's head slightly forward and then tilt it back to finish pushing it down, pressing on it or pulling on the neckline. It is sometimes tricky depending on its shape and complexity: horns, large ears, accessories...

To remove it, take it with both hands and pull it gently so as not to damage fragile parts.

I advise you to use a hood underneath, a very useful accessory to avoid the transfer of perspiration in the head of the Fursuit and easier to wash. It comes with the head and can go in the washing machine or wash quickly by hand with a little soap.

The paws depending on the model can be worn indifferently or according to the direction of the hands. It's up to you to position your fingers to be the most comfortable.

How to maintain my Fursuit with natural products

NEVER PUT A FURSUIT IN A MACHINE OR DRYER

Wash your Fursuit only if it is really dirty or if it smells very strong (sweat, humidity, etc.) to keep it as long as possible. Fabrics and seams do not like too aggressive chemical soaps and detergents. I replaced them with less expensive and equally effective natural equivalents.

recommended gear

  • 2 basins (2 liters max)
  • 1 soft brush for washing
  • 1 brush or comb to make it beautiful
  • 15cl of liquid black soap or 1/2 glass of flake Marseille soap
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda powder
  • lukewarm water
  • 1 terry towel
  • 1 soft sponge

  1. Mix in 1 basin soap + baking soda in lukewarm water, dissolve everything well, the opaque translucent aspect is normal.
  2. Use the small soft brush to wash. Dip it in the solution and rub gently on dirty or smelly parts. 3 3. Rinse gently with the soft sponge and lukewarm clear water (hence the usefulness of the 2nd basin).
  3. To dry it, use the towel to absorb excess water.
  4. lay it flat in the shade and in the open air if possible. Drying can take time, be patient. Brush occasionally when it dries to air the bristles
  5. Once dry, brush it back to its full glory! You can also perfume it, preferably with essential oils (water + 2 drops of oil of your choice, lavender is insect repellent and sweet in smell, it's up to you)

Your Fursuit is all beautiful, remember to let it breathe and put it away when it's really dry.

Another tip, after each outing spray the Fursuit with a spray of water + baking soda, it deodorizes and disinfects without having to wash it completely, ventilate it well and put it away when it is completely dry!

Little more to know about the Fursuit

Before going on your fursuit outings, here are some tips that can help you better prepare for more safety! Pay attention to your hygiene, you will sweat and the smells stick! Provide a so-called antiperspirant outfit under your Fursuit, T-shirt style and polypropylene sports leggings for the complete Fursuit and the famous biker balaclava.

The Fursuit is going to be in high demand and it happens that small parts come apart or peel off.

Take a survival kit for Fursuit with at least:

  • 1 mini sewing box (travel style: small scissors, sewing needles, thread, safety pins)
  • 1 tube of Scotch universal glue freezes (it's from experience, it's great)
  • 1 stirrup brush
  • 1 spray water + baking soda
  • 1 anti-hair brush

How to use:

the stirrup brush is useful upside down, that is to say that your fursuit is not an animal and its fur is fragile, so useful the stirrup with the teeth in the opposite direction, this avoids tearing the hair.

I also like to use the anti-hair brush to brush and smooth, it is less aggressive and allows both to remove “dead” hair and to gently clean the fur.

Take care of yourself and plan ahead, your survival bag

  • water to drink, because you will sweat and exert yourself
  • cakes, cereal bars, sweets for snacking and fun too!
  • 1 pack of paper tissues
  • 1 mini towel to dry yourself off
  • 1 mini emergency deodorant

Tips: Take breaks every 20 minutes or so, they will impose themselves you will quickly experience it. Snack, drink, rest.

Have to carry : phone, virtual business card or paper to distribute to pro photographers and social media hosts and the top: an assistant to share your day, take photos, share your moments of breaks and help you get dressed and be the keeper of your survival bag! It also helps to maintain the respect and good manners of the "attackers".

Have Fun!

Wearing a Fursuit is being another person, it's a Game, have fun, play your character. Like an actor in a play, you have to rehearse before you start, put yourself in front of a mirror and bring this new you to life, work on your movements, your dance, your poses for future photos that you will be asked for in convention or in exit !
